Walking in Beauty

There’s a word in Diné (Navajo) language, “Nizhóní” for beauty. Dale & Charlotte Tsosie brought “Nizhóní” to our students and staff for the Masters Bible Translation course here at YWAM Tribal Winds. Dale sang a drum sang which he composed called, “Upon His wings.” I found this song below on-line to give you an idea how beautiful the language is.

The Navajo Way- Prayer and Blessing — Walking in Beauty.
“In beauty I walk, with beauty before me I walk, with beauty behind me I walk,
with beauty above me I walk, with beauty around me I walk.
It has become beauty again. It has become beauty again. It has become beauty again. It has become beauty again.”

What a BLESSED place our Father has provided for us here to host these nations from around the world! When the Lord told us to have a Training Center here in Flagstaff, Arizona, we had no idea that we would have students & guests from all around the world. Our Father is so very faithful! Please pray for us that we would do more schools and that many will come to learn to love Him and to serve Him!

Pacific Hope Ship- Will in his element- Vanuatu, Fiji & beyond:
God has provided a FREE port in Cartagena, Colombia. The current crew will get us there, then mostly leave. They will be there in Cartagena until God provides a new crew, and then they can get started doing hurricane relief for a few weeks, and possibly longer. Pray for God’s continued provision and open doors for the way forward, as well as safe and efficient passage for Will & the crew. Due to the devastating hurricanes in the Caribbean last month, two more YWAM ships (the YWAM Liberty & the Amazing Grace) will re-deploy to partner together with “Pacific Hope” to do hurricane relief over this next year in Dominica, Barbuda, and wherever else God leads us. He is even providing us a free long term staging port to work out of on the island of St. Vincent!

*Tony- Will’s new Fijian friend (Will was invited to spend a night at the home of Tony’s family and they are looking into going out to Tony’s mother’s island for a couple of days *Pacific Hope ship crew *Melissa, Fabrice & son (Will’s new friends from Vanuatu- Will is a net-worker)

Febrice wrote: Hi Will,Greetings to everyone on board. I just want to thank you for all the effort and help to get Melissa better. I have collected the card that you left for me with Mike. Thanks again for that. Melissa feels better now after we left the hospital and like you said it was nothing to do with cancer. I will try to meet your friend Jacque (from “Le Life Resort”) and see from there. we will keep in touch my friend. Hope you guys are okay out there. Thanks again.- Fabrice.

(From Will) I continue to learn a lot about living and working on the ship. Today was another lesson in line handling when coming into a dock. I told the captain that I get nervous sometimes with my little 25′ boat, to which he responded that he was somewhat nervous this morning . If we didn’t get stopped by our lines there was a concrete wall ahead of us that we would have hit. God is good! In His love and mercy — Will

*Felicia, Ralph, the Santos boys and Millie, the “beavers” & “the pack-rats” (that’s what Skip used to call me as I would put sticks into every little space! *Firewood for YWAM Flagstaff, the Toms & YWAM Hopiland-need so much more to last the whole winter!

Beavers & Pack-rats: I realize that anything we may do in the world, doing all sorts of “good” things around the world would be all “blowing in the wind” which amounts to nothing if done for only our own self esteem and affirmation. We (Haissa Santos and I) feel a bit like women whose husbands left us to take care of the home-front while they went to war (Will to medical ship for 2, 3 months, Cleber to Leadership training course at YWAM Salem for 6 weeks). We don’t know how to do so many things! But, I also realize that going out to get firewood in the wilderness for the ministry brings joy to our Lord. I just want to love on our Lord Jesus every single day of my life!

High point: Charity Theissen (did our DTS some years ago and stayed on staff for over 6 years) came back with her husband, to be with us! What a joy it was to meet her husband Node who is a Naturopathic Doctor and to know that Charity will also graduate in another year! Thank you, Charity for caring enough to visit us. Thank you, Node for initiating and going out to cut firewood.

So much more help is needed!: After having been in Indonesia for 5 years, our son John and his wife Kayti, are still trying to renovate their place at YWAM Colorado Springs Strategic Frontiers. Here is a list of the things that still they need help with- Install laminate flooring, install tile flooring, assemble and install kitchen cabinets, install kitchen and bathroom sinks and dishwasher, install interior doors, baseboards and trim finishing, tape drywall & mud walls, texture spray all walls and ceilings, paint all walls and ceilings. If you and/or friends have time to go out and volunteer at YWAM Colorado Springs, please let us know. This also is a mission work on earth! Please pray for them as it’s been difficult to live in 2 motel rooms with their two little daughters, without even a kitchen.

Please pray for us for our next Daughters of the King Retreat at our retreat center in Flagstaff and also our desire to host “Night Out with the King” every other week at our center in Hopiland. Blessings to you!

love and hope always,
Walking In Beauty (Blessing)- Navajo/Diné prayer (This reminds me of Celtic prayers)

Today I will walk out, today everything unnecessary will leave me,
I will be as I was before, I will have a cool breeze over my body.
I will have a light body, I will be happy forever,
nothing will hinder me.
I walk with beauty before me. I walk with beauty behind me.
I walk with beauty below me. I walk with beauty above me.
I walk with beauty around me. My words will be beautiful.

In beauty all day long may I walk.
Through the returning seasons, may I walk.
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk.
With dew about my feet, may I walk.

With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk.
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty above me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.

In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk.
My words will be beautiful.
