Our purpose and dream is to train the Hopis and the Native Americans to learn this skill so that they may document their elders’ (those who still had old traditional stories) before they all die off. We as YWAM Tribal Winds, have been able to do this twice and was able to go into Hopi elders’ homes with the Hopi youth to record their stories. We would love to be able to have those who would help us with the other tribes.
This 12-week course is designed to teach Indigenous young adults the art of visual storytelling. This school has morning worship as part of the curriculum. During the final practicum phase, the students produce documentaries with the goal to help them connect with their cultures. This school is conducted based on student interest, rather than on a set annual schedule.
